All the remembrances of the primal world, the New Earth, and the essays in this book, stem back to an encounter with the magical and dangerous Datura. 

I have this theory that Lady Datura is a manifestation of a fierce side of the Feminine. Yes, she has a sweet scent, beauty, and allure. But she also has poison, and will kill anyone who approaches her without respect. She is vengeful, and she grows where the soil has been disturbed. Places I would call “raped.” Meaning, what the Earth gives there has been taken without consent, without regard for the balance and tending required by the Paradise Realm. Datura grows in those places, in a torn-up gash of Earth. She grows like a weed, yes, but an elegant weed, a dangerous one, as if the land itself is sending up a warning.
